As most OBSC members are aware, we lost
our President and dear friend, Eric Parker,
to a massive stroke on August 28, 2008. The event taking Eric from us came with no warning signs or symptoms at only 49 years old. Eric’s outgoing personality with his boisterous laugh, his irreplaceable barbecue and bartending skills will be sorely missed by all. He was only weeks after from retirement
after 31 years with the City of Mesa. He planned to spend most of his time in Cholla taking care of the club and people he loved. His long-time companion, Annette Maynard, has gradually moved form a non-working member to membership chair. Annette plans to continue in this position as well as remaining active in the club. Plans are being made for a celebration of life at the OBSC
in February near the date of his 50th birthday. I will act as President for the remaing months of Eric’s term until the December annual elections.
