Local Cholla Bay sailors Bill Hensler and Lowell & Frankie McCulley with golden retriever Neely organized an eight week Baja 09 cruise. Baja 09 is a 8 week sail south from Puerto Penasco to the Loreto area and then back. The cruise is organized in one week legs with different crews on each week. This allows lots of our Cholla friends to join us. This year we have some first timers which is always interesting. Crews post photo blogs of their cruise at www.gatolocosailing.com/blog It’s fun to follow their progress see what is posted. The Neely blogs are written from our golden retriever’s point of view by Frankie for her dog lovers.

Friday and Saturday are the last two days of the fishing tournament
Hi All,
Just wanted to remind you that Friday and Saturday are the last two days of the fishing tournament and there are still lots of categories to be filled and fish to be caught. So come on all you fisherpeople and join the Derby!!!
The Fish Fry will be on Sunday, starting at 3:00. Vaquez’ Cantina will be there and t-shirt and raffle ticket sales will be going on. They will start serving fish about 4:00. The awards will be presented starting about 5:00 or so, is my guess. It’s always a fun time, so come and be sure to get your 54th annual derby t-shirt and support this derby by buying raffle tickets if you have not already done so. The meal is free and delicious (the fish will be fresh) so we need to sell raffle tickets and shirts in order to keep this derby going. This is the 54th year and hopefully there will be many more.
If you would like to help with next year’s derby, and we do need help, please see Pat Goodin or anyone working at Ship’s Store, the radio shack or at the Fish Fry
.
Hope to see you in The Bay this weekend.
.
Nancy Schmidli
